he actually used to be a Wheaton fan when he was younger until he went to a convention to meet him but Wheaton cancelled at the last minute. Sheldon had spent ten hours on a bus (he hates busses) which had also forced him to violate his personal rule against “relieving [himself] on board a moving vehicle”. that’s when it all started.
they eventually meet but all encounters only reaffirm Wheaton’s status as Sheldon’s mortal enemy. or at least that’s the case until season 5 (5x05 The Russian Rocket Reaction): Sheldon attends a party at Wil Wheaton’s house. Wil approaches him and gives him his last and autographed Wesley Crusher action figure, leading Sheldon to finally forgive him.
